The 5 Elements are Fire, Air, Earth, Water and Ether. These elements are found in all matter, whether in the the cosmos or in our own body.
Fire, is the element of our Qi or Life Force. Vital energy within us. Our cardiovascular system, including the heart and blood, is part of this upward energy that embodies fire. We move our Qi by stimulating our metabolism, or tiny fireplaces, within each and every cell. We achieve this through physical activity and exercise. Fire also represents our intuitive awareness.
Air, is the element of our breath. It is with us at every living moment. It is found in our Respiratory system, specifically our lungs, which serves oxygen to the entire being. The quality and quantity of our sleep is essential for healing and mental clarity. Deep breathing can create a euphoric feeling in the brain and improve blood sugar, among many other health benefits. Air also represents our phycological clarity.
Earth is our being, our physical body, and groundedness. We need food to sustain life daily. The earth in our body is our physical structure as bones and joints. This connects us to the physical plane and earth energy. Earth also represents our physical vitality.
Water is essential for all living things. Our urinary system and kidneys are essential for the downward energy of detoxifying and removing toxins in the body. Proper hydration of water and oil is essential. Water also represents our emotional wellbeing.
All of the elements combined in balance create the ether element. Ether is our calling, our purpose, our gift. It is our spiritual connection through prayer and meditation. It embodies our goals, dreams, aspirations in life.
Working on each of these elements daily will help to achieve our spiritual goals. I do not feel the goal is achieving perfect balance of these elements all the time. We are human and therefore can only work toward perfection.
